Part Cloth: Passato Prossimo

Part Cloth: Passato Prossimo, 2025

Italian matrimonial sheets, red silk remnant, found cloth fragment, needles, thread, hand-dyed yarn,
two single-channel videos

This installation was an integration of cloth breakdowns and partings to highlight a particular sense of place. Wearing a dress I made from silk remnants, I've framed a series of views between my body and its surrounding cloth. This dress has led me to Piero della Francesca’s fresco fragment, Madonna del Parto in Monterchi. Returning to the parting of a red curtain and splitting of a seam, I have merged the perspectival lines of this painting with found cloth to align the vanishing point with the needle’s eye, and trace the indeterminate possibilities that a fragment provides.
